The DSC-P72 features a combination of technologies designed to enhance exposure and focus under all conditions. In compact, stylish metallic casing, this model records video with audio, and captures vivid, razor-sharp still images making the switch from film to digital photography more compelling than ever. Featuring the headline-grabbing 3.3-megapixel Super HAD CCD, the model delivers stunning high-resolution images. Picture quality is crisper and clearer - ewhiteially significant in low-light situations or for shooting night views. The Optical Zoom function allows users to zoom up to 3x. Add to this the useful technologies that users may never be explicitly aware of: Smart Zoom, Clear Color Noise Reduction and Clear Color Luminance Reduction. Smart Zoom ensures that the enlarged images yield the same high resolution as the originals; Clear Color Noise Reduction accurately renders areas with similar color; and Clear Luminance Reduction lowers luminance noise without destroying resolution data. The new MPEG MovieVX mode enables the camera to continuously record high-quality MPEG videos with sound at resolutions up to 640 x 480 pixels, allowing users to watch audio-visual clips full-screen on TV. With a 1 GB Memory Stick PRO, the camera can record continuous video clips of up to 44 minutes. Thanks to Multi-point Auto Focus, this Cyber-shot model locates and focuses on the main subject, ensuring the star of the photo appears razor-sharp. To deal with uneven light conditions, Multi-pattern Metering divides the frame into 49 segments and meters each of them individually - so even if there is bright sand in one corner of the scene, and a shady tree in another, the image is accurately exposed.
