The FinePix S5000 provides a choice of six
exposure modes: Auto mode [AUTO] for the
ultimate in ease, plus Programmed AE [P],
Aperture-Priority AE [A] (a range of 13 aperture
settings, from F2.8 to F8), Shutter-Priority AE
[S] (1/1000 to 2 seconds), Manual [M], and
Scene Position [SP] mode. The latter gives you instant access to
four special preset program modes: Portrait, Landscape, Sports
and Night Scene. To handle the widest possible variety of light
conditions, the camera also offers three light metering choices:
64-TTL Multi, Spot, and Average.
Accurate, high-speed AF system
The FinePix S5000 employs a state-of-the-art AF system to make
autofocus quicker and more precise than ever. An AF-Assist
Illuminator* ensures accurate focus in low light or night scenes.
And the AF Area Focus system lets you focus on specific areas
within the frame, making composition easier and more flexible.

Wide range of ISO settings
With the FinePix S5000, you’re free to select an ISO-equivalent
sensitivity of AUTO, 200, 400 or a very high-speed 800*, depending
on subject and shooting conditions. The higher ISO settings
excel at fast action and non-flash shooting in low-light conditions,
as well as helping to prevent camera shake.
High-speed continuous shooting
To capture fast-moving subjects, the FinePix S5000 offers three
high-speed continuous shooting modes: “Top 5-frame”
Continuous Shooting (5 frames/second when shutter button is
pressed), “Final 5-frame” Continuous Shooting (5 frames/second
just before shutter button is released*), and 1280 × 960-pixel
“Long-period” Continuous Shooting (1.6 frames/second for up to
40 frames).
* While you can shoot up to 40 frames (5 frames/second for 8 seconds) in this continuous
mode, only the five frames just before the shutter button is released are actually captured.
Manual shooting functions
For total creative freedom, the FinePix S5000 gives you a
wide range of manual controls. They include manual white
balance, exposure compensation (–2 to +2 EV in 1/3-EV increments),
ISO sensitivity setting, auto-exposure bracketing,
macro shooting (as close as 10cm), slow-synchro shooting,
and more.
CCD-RAW data recording
In addition to the standard JPEG format, the FinePix S5000 can
save captured images in CCD-RAW file format*. This option is
especially valuable when you want to preserve the uncompressed
image data.
* CCD-RAW files can be converted into TIFF files with the included RAW File Converter LE
software.
